Four bandits have been neutralised during a gun duel with police operatives in Batsari local government area of Katsina State, the police has said.
Spokesperson of Katsina police, Gambo Isa, said the gunmen had attempted to attack Dangeza village at about 4pm on Wednesday when they were repelled by the police.
He said a team of police officers led by the DPO engaged the gunmen in a “fierce gun battle”, killing four of the bandits, while others fled into the bush. Isa said three motorcycles belonging to the gunmen were recovered during the encounter.
Our correspondent recalled that bandits had last week launched an attack on Batsari town, killing two people and kidnapped several others.
Batsari is one of the eight frontline local government areas facing security challenges in the state.
