Abubakar Shekau’s faction of Boko Haram, Jama’atu Ahlussunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad (JAS), has released a new video in which it says the terror group will intensify attacks as Christmas approaches.
According to HumAngle, the group also claimed responsibility for an attack that killed 27 people in Toumour of Diffa region, in the southeastern part of Niger Republic between Saturday and Sunday.
A senior local official in the Niger Republic described the attack as “unprecedented savagery” that left 27 people dead, with dozens of assailants laying to waste.
The attackers also burnt down 60 percent of the town of Toumour, razing up to 1,000 homes and the central market.
The attack happened on the same day the country was conducting elections but an official source said polling did not hold in the Bosso region that includes Diffa.
In a two minutes and 53 seconds video, a masked Boko Haram commander did not attribute the attack to the election but said the terror group will intensify attacks as Christmas approaches.
“To all the Christians in the world, especially that Christmas is approaching, you should know we will never stop killing you,” he threatened.
On the Christmas eve of 2019, the terrorists killed seven people in a raid on a Christian village near the town of Chibok in northeast Nigeria’s Borno State.
