Germany Declares First Phase Of COVID-19 Over, Directs Businesses To Reopen 



Germany has relaxed its Coronavirus (COVID-19) national lockdown.

Chancellor Angela Merkel, gave the new directive in agreement with the premiers of Germany’s federal states.

“I think we can safely state that the first phase of the pandemic is behind us.

“But we need to be very much aware we are still in the early phases and we’ll be in it for the long haul,” she said.

One of the leaders, Markus Söder said that the country has been able to flatten the curve due to the patience and compliance of citizens with regards to social distancing (5ft) and personal hygiene.

According to the new development, people from two households can go out to eat together while shops are expected to reopen no matter their size.

Merkel also directed that pupils would have to return to school before summer break.

The country has recorded about 167,239 covid-19 cases with over 5,000 deaths, according to Worldometer figures.
