A total of 59 Almajiris who sneaked into Benue State few days ago, were on Thursday deported to their states of origin by the state government.
42 of the Almajiris were of Katsina origin while 17 Almajiris were of Bauch State origin.
Benue State Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu alongside the action Committee on Coronavirus (COVID-19) supervised the evacuation process.
Recall that few days ago, the Almajiris were brought into Makurdi, the State capital at night, and upon alarm raised by residents of the state, the COVID 19 Committee under the leadership of Abounu swung into action and identified them, leading to their subsequent repatriation Thursday morning.
Publicity Secretary of PDP in the state, Bemgba Iortyom, accompanied the Almajiris to the Agan toll gate where he bade them farewell to their various states (Bauchi and Katsina State), with security men accompanying them.
