BREAKING: Gunmen attack Nasarawa COVID-19 taskforce Chairman, cart away Coronavirus documents, other valuables



Unknown gunmen on Monday attacked the residence of the leader of Nasarawa State Coronavirus taskforce, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu, carting away valuables worth millions of Naira.

Mr Ibrahim is the Director, Public Health Department of the state Ministry of Health.

The gunmen, it was gathered, trailed Mr Ibrahim on his way back home around 1:30 am on Monday after rounding up a series of official meetings in his office.

After forcing themselves into his residence, it was further gathered, the gunmen carted away valuables including laptop computers, car keys, ATM cards, and other items belonging to his wife.

Confirming the attack, the Information Officer of the health ministry, Abdullahi Ogoshi, said the gunmen broke into Mr Ibrahim’s house around 1:30 am Monday morning and carted away valuables worth millions of Naira.

“Some gunmen numbering about six, attacked the director’s house after gaining entrance through the fence and the door.

“It took them about 15 minutes to break the door after which they entered the house and robbed him at gunpoint.

“They took away his laptops and ATM cards and threatened to kill him if they later discover that the PIN he gave them is incorrect,” Mr Ogoshi disclosed.

According to him, the laptops containing all information and resolution reached on how to sensitization the public against Coronavirus were taken away by the gunmen.

“The armed men shot sporadically at the air after spending 30 minutes ransacking the house.

“They pointed guns at their victims throughout the period while threatening to shoot anybody who attempts to escape,” the information officer stated.

He, however, said that although Mr Ibrahim escaped unhurt, his family were traumatized by the gunshots and heavy sound of metals used in forcing the doors open.

When our correspondent visited the house, sympathizes were seen condoling the family over the incident, among whom was the Speaker of the State Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe.

While thanking God for saving their lives, the Speaker urged the family to take heart and put everything behind them.
